Lomé, September 13, 2022.  The Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD) takes note that Vice-President Moustapha Ben Barka has regained full freedom of movement, after having been detained on September 12, 2022, at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, in France.

Vice-President Ben Barka was in transit in Paris on his way to Seoul in South Korea, where he was to represent BOAD in meetings with the Green Climate Fund, when he was detained by French judicial authorities. After verification, Vice-President Ben Barka was released from all restraints and authorized to continue his trip.

Vice-President Ben Barka will be back in Lomé in the coming days.

The Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD) is the joint development finance institution of the countries of the West African Monetary Union (WAMU). According to Article 2 of its Articles of Association, the BOAD’s purpose is to “promote the balanced development of member states and achieve economic integration in West Africa” by financing priority development projects.
