MOODY’S RATING AGENCY CONFIRMS BOAD’S INVESTMENT GRADE FOR THE 6th YEAR

Lomé, May 12, 2021 :   The international rating agency Moody’s has just notified the Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD) of the renewal of its rating ” Investment Grade ” ” Baa1 ” with a negative outlook linked to the consideration of macroeconomic factors.

This rating confirms the strength of the institution’s fundamentals, despite the effects of the covid19 pandemic affecting all the economies of the WAEMU zone.

This is a great achievement for our institution, whose rating has been confirmed year after year for the past 6 years by international rating agencies.

According to Serge EKUE, President of BOAD, ” this renewal is international recognition of the quality of the institution’s governance, the sound execution of its missions in the service of the sub-region’s development despite the prevailing context, and the solidity of its risk management policy “.

It is also in line with the Djoliba 2021-2025 plan, which entered its implementation phase on January 1, 2021, and which aims to significantly strengthen our intervention capacity over the next five years through a necessary capital increase and the use of balance sheet optimization tools.

In the 48 years of its existence, the Bank has contributed to the financing of projects in member states and private sector companies in the WAEMU, with total commitments of 6, ,335.168 billion FCFA (9.6 billion Euros ) across all operations.
